Percheron
The Percheron breed was introduced in Australia for economic reasons.
Australian farmers needed an animal which could
- support the heat of tropics and subtropics (QLD, WA, desert regions )
- stand the cold winter (Tasmania, VIC, SA)
- pull carriages over long distances
The Percheron horse was also used for
- biological work
- producing serum for the C.S.L.
- medical experiments in relation to serum production
- medical experiments
- breeding purpose
- show work
- ploughing competition
- dressage competion
- horse riding competition
The PERCHERON HORSE in Australia , to-day, is used for
improving other breeds
